CURIO HOMEGOODS
Curio Homegoods, a brand under the Munchkin umbrella, offers elevated home essentials that blend form and function. They required a complete visual identity system while retaining their existing logotype. Known for innovative products like the Ionic Collection—a trio of dish brushes with magnetic bases and metallic finishes—Curio sought to emphasize the theme of curiosity in home decor. The primary challenge was designing packaging for their brush gift set, individual brushes and sponges that not only showcased the products but also highlighted their unique features, particularly the magnetic pedestal that allows the brushes to stand upright on the sink. After closely collaborating with their internal packaging engineering team and exploring various design options, the final solution displayed the brushes on the pedestal right out of the box, creating a seamless unboxing experience aligned with the brand’s elevated aesthetic.
The concept of viewing everyday kitchen items as artistic home decor became central to the brand story. This idea translated into the unboxing experience, featuring a piece of art inside the packaging to allow flexibility for different pieces in future collections, extending the experience over time.
In the end, the visual identity system and packaging celebrated the beauty of functionality, seamlessly integrating Curio’s ethos of curiosity and elevated living. The comprehensive branding work included developing a cohesive identity system, with thoughtful typography treatments, a versatile color palette, an engaging unboxing experience, packaging design, photo art direction, and detailed brand guidelines.
